Craving variety? Follow our simple mix-in ideas to take your Superhero Muffins to the next level. 

The Berry Beet, Apple Cinnamon and Chocolate Banana Superhero Muffin Mix can be easily customized with mix-ins to add protein, healthy fats and seasonal flavor. Read below for Elyse’s favorite mix-ins. 

TIP: Add your mix-ins at the same time as the muffin mix to avoid over-stirring the batter—you want to preserve those air bubbles that help the muffins rise.

Mix-In Ideas

 Berry Beet Superhero Muffin Mix:

Add even more fresh berry flavor by mixing in 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen) or 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries. If your blueberries are frozen, increase the bake time by 5 minutes. For the best results, add the berries to the liquid ingredients before stirring in the dry mix.  

Apple Cinnamon Superhero Muffin Mix:

Add ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts for texture, flavor, healthy fats and protein. For kids, skip the nuts and add chocolate chips (1/3 to 1/2 cup) to transform your morning muffins into a lunchbox or afterschool treat. 

Chocolate Banana Superhero Muffin Mix:

We highly recommend adding ½ cup of your fave chocolate chips (milk chocolate, semi-sweet or dark) to add gooey chocolatey goodness. For kids, decorate the tops of your muffins with a few extra chocolate chips. 

 

To add protein, use 1 cup whole milk or 1 cup Greek yogurt (plus 1/4 cup water) instead of the 1 cup water or follow our Protein Superhero Muffin Recipe
