Simple Camping Meal Plan & Printable Grocery List for Busy Families

A stress-free camping menu packed with hearty meals, kid-friendly snacks, and everything you need in one printable shopping list.

Camping is one of my favorite ways to slow down, unplug, and celebrate summer with my kids. But if you’ve ever packed for a weekend camping trip, you know how quickly the food situation can become super overwhelming.

These days, I keep it incredibly simple so that it doesn’t take me an entire day to prep for a weekend getaway. For camping, I’m all about shortcuts like store-bought sauces or dips, pre- made burger patties and baking mixes so that I can quickly prep everything in advance.

Planning camp meals everyone will love (and creating the grocery list to go with them) can take just as long as cooking the food. That’s why I put together this printable camping menu and grocery list. I hope it takes the stress out of meal planning and gives you more time to enjoy your camping adventure too.

The day before we leave, I marinate the meat, wash the produce, shakeup a quick salad dressing, bake Superhero Muffins, prep a batch of Superhero Waffles and chop some of the produce (most of it is better cut fresh in camp). Once we arrive, meals come together in minutes, which means more time paddling and hiking and less time digging through the cooler.

Many of the ingredients in this easy menu pull double duty throughout the weekend. Leftover grilled chicken and salad becomes lunch the next day, muffins become grab-and-go breakfast or snacks, and veggies can be sliced for the hummus and charcuterie board.

Here’s my families fave two-night camping menu that’s simple for busy parents and kid-approved. Enjoy!

Breakfast

Keep mornings easy because you probably didn’t get enough sleep.

  • Coffee! (most important, bring a large French press and grind good quality beans)
  • Superhero Protein Pancake Mix (bring butter, eggs, and milk) or cook Superhero Waffles in advance at home and reheat in a skillet with butter or coconut oil
  • Greek yogurt with blueberries and granola
  • Fresh fruit
  • Maple syrup, jam, and nut butter
  • Hot cocoa, milk, and juice boxes for the kids

Snacks & Appetizers

Camping makes everyone hungry all day long, so pack more snacks than you think you’ll need.

  • Chocolate Banana Superhero Muffins
  • Trail mix with pretzels, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, chocolate gems
  • Apples, bananas, and graham crackers with peanut butter
  • Fig bars, granola bars, beef sticks
  • A simple charcuterie board with Gruyère, salami, fig jam, and crackers
  • Veggies, hummus, tortilla chips

Dinner Night One

Our fave first-night meal is prepped and ready for the grill.

  • Greek-marinated grilled chicken (grab the marinade recipe here)
  • Greek salad with arugula, tomatoes, cucumber, feta, balsamic vinaigrette
  • Warm pita (heat on grill) with hummus and tzatziki (store-bought or homemade)

Dinner Night Two

By the second evening everyone is usually tired, so burgers are the perfect low-effort dinner.

  • Grass-fed burgers on brioche buns (Costco pre-made patties are our go-to)
  • Grilled asparagus tossed with olive oil and salt before leaving home
  • Burger toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, burger sauce, ketchup
  • Chips with salsa and guacamole
  • If you’re ambitious: pasta salad or potato salad made in advance or just carrot sticks and cucumber slices for the kids

Easy Lunches

Instead of packing separate lunches, build them around leftovers.

  • Pita bread with leftover Greek chicken, hummus and salad
  • Mac & cheese for the kids (Annie’s instant is fine)
  • Bean & Cheese Quesadillas with leftover guac/salsa (drain beans in advance)

Dessert

S’mores. Easy. No prep.

No camping trip is complete without them.

Five Ways to Make Camp Cooking Easier

  1. Wash and peel produce before leaving home.
  2. Marinate meat in freezer bags so it’s ready for the grill.
  3. Bake muffins and waffles ahead of time and cool completely before storing.
  4. Bring fewer recipes than you think you need. Simple meals mean more time around the campfire.
  5. The best camping meals are hearty and fuel big adventures while giving you more time together.
